Bloody hell that was quick.
If you do pick this up, post a picture of the rust. I'd like to see if I should bother with mine.

Chris - take your frame to somewhere like Armourtex (where they have shot blasting on site). Last time I had a rusty nail they shot blasted the worst area to check the extent of the rust. It cost me nothing and you'll know whether to bother.

It's pretty thin 531 so i'm not letting anyone near it with the shotblasting gear. It's probably ok anyway, just want to see what people consider rusty.

Lots of people interested in 'bits'. It was only the Mercian that was a freeby. Everything is packed up now but I'm planning to get rid of some of my stuff down at the track on good Friday.

Hey Chris, there are some pics on the "Current Projects" thread, but here's what the BB looked like:

Took some steel wool to it and got most of the rust off. Even brought out the Nervex stamps and Mercian serial number (1962 frame).
I sent some pics to Mercian, and they said it looks fine and they've seen some in worse condition (brass for dents, and enamel paint for pots). Hopefully that's promising for you.

Very promising. Mine doesn't look half bad by comparison.
Cheers Horatio.
Moving house this weekend and want to lighten the load. I have a rust bucket of a king of Mercia frame and forks with Chaterlea chainset. There's a dent in the top tube and lots of rust but it's possible that it could be blasted, re-painted and restored. I'm never going to get round to it. 1st person who says they can collect from Hackney tonight or tomorrow night can have it. Looks like it's about a 57.
Lots of spares for sale too. Wheels cranks etc etc But I'm not going to start listing this stuff. PM if you want to come and have a look.
