  • Right, as this was talked about the other day I thought we should start gathering our ideas/locations/equipment/thoughts here!

  • I have no idea about polo, so open to help from anyone!
Heard that ski poles are good for mallets....? how long do they need to be? ok ok Im guessing that you hole one end and the other has to be able to get to the floor...
but can you use kids ski poles? seen some on ebay going for a quid, thought they might do?

  • I have a court next to my house old and derelict we would need a broom, and would need to be daylight as its unlit. But yeah I am up for it.

  • check the polo threads on here....there is everything you need to know. or google works as well for mallet building (youtube)

  • i'm pretty good at the old mallet building, have done a few, just get the ski poles first, and longer is better, as the really thin bit at the end is chopped off. Also preferably not straight.

  • had a chat with seb about this the other day. would be up for having a go. almost have a beater ready.

tarner would be good to play at, but is up a great big hill. maybe somewhere on the seafront too?

  • i found some more people who want to play from the cranks workshop

  • yeah there's a few places literally on the sea front that would be amazing to play on but not fully enclosed we I can envisage makes them no hopers...

  • preston park BB courts. fully enclosed, goals...

  • Hay i am nto a full time Brightoner, but i will be around for a month or so at easter, and all summer, aand ive played a bit of polo up here in Manchester, would love to play some in the holidays. google Legit Polo for infomration mallets and wheel protection. i rekon preston park courts would be the best

  • well all being well we will have something on the way by then....
    the more the merryer!
pm one of us when your down or check the wendesday meet/drinks page

  • sounds good, there should be 2 of us

  • PP is a good call. i might get on the mallet contruction soon. just need a few charity shop golf clubs and a bit of piping, and off we go.

now i just need a polo bike...

  • HBMF, hit me up with a date when you've got this rabble sorted.
I'll drag some of the London Ladies down with me.

  • i'm in on polo - just need a bike and a mallet

mallet not a problem (andy get a good long bit of piping)

    bike, anyone?

  • plenty of people play on single speed or gears - not necessarily a big disadvantage as long as you don't mind it taking the odd knock!

  • no no, you don't understand - i need (=want) another bike

just a cheap old fixed thing that can take some punishment...

polo gives me an excuse - don't take that away from me

  • what size minelli?

    I'll keep my eyes open.

  • ah... the bug has bitten...

  • i'm remaining aloof at present ;) don't want to f my wheels.

when you say punishment, presumably you mean 'sit outside carluccios while you smoke fags and drink coffee'?

;-) ps - when you get a frame i'm sure i can sort out some bits for ya. likewise for your mate, elvis... just need a bit of free time...

  • i'm remaining aloof at present ;) don't want to f my wheels.

i have about 3 old front wheels to donate. just need to get hold of some estate agent's lettings signs...

had a chat with gasping K over coffee this afternoon and we reckon we can cobble together some mallets for cheap. keep your eyes peeled for cheap carbon ski poles, and look in a skip for some piping if you pass any. otherwise we'll do a test run towards the end of the month and let you know how it goes!

  • im up for this! but i warn thee i will be a total psycho....

  • you're on my team then...

  • elvis - 56-58

m-xl - i'm the continental type, what can i say...

we have one team of three already - excellent
