  • Right, we need a bike builder, who can also do most repairs on bikes (pads, chain and cassette, true wheels and all that lark, if you can't do this, you probably can't build bikes as well as we need them to be built).

The lo down is, you'll be based at Old Kent Road Halfords outback in their pretty big warehouse, building St Pauls Bikehut bikes (nice) aswell as some Halfords bikes (not ideal, but once you've built 20 or so, you'll see what they don't bother with in the factory) and some small repairs, as all the big servicing is done on site at st pauls by me and the other mechanic. Rough money is 15k PA, which ain't tooo bad. Think it's gonna be 9 till 5 30, probably mon-fri. And they're looking for someone to start quick.

Please don't think 'i could slap a bike together no problem', as we need these bikes to be spot on for them to go out, and the reason we're doing this is so workshop demand is relieved.

If you think you're the one for the job, gimme a text on 07837990463 and we'll arrange an interview/test of your skills.

  • repost it here, might get better response.

So you want someone pro or semi-pro but you're only willing to offer £0.24 over the London living wage (£7.45)?

Good luck. Pay peanuts and you'll get monkeys.

  • i don't think professional bike mechanics get a lot more than that mate.

  • fair enough. Let me know when you need a weekend mech. Can't do week work at the mo.

  • if you want more money you probably need the cytech certificates or experience. a top mechanic will earn more but it doesn't sound as if that's what fat pants wants.

  • Yeah, i want a spot on bike builder and someone who can do small repairs. Not a race team mechanic, it's just we're not looking at re checking over the bike every time, so we need someone who knows what they're doing. I'm only on 14.5 and i've been in bikeshops for 1.5 years, and half of that was full time for bikehut... But at this day and age with the recession, any job is good enough.

Celebratory crate of beer if you stay there for longer than 3 months, promise.

  • err ill keep it in mind, got an interview lined up on wednesday for a job at a shop id love to work for, but im running out of money and getting fed up with brighton so it could be a ticket out.....

  • @ tallsam
    what a pointless post
what are you trying to prove ? you own a calculator ?
or are you trying to be a c**t

  • I didn't know I needed to try.

Just saying that you could work as a cleaner (or anything for that matter) and earn about the same.

Fair enough though if thats the going rate. I had no idea it was so low. Quite right though a job is a job in these tough times I just don't want employers to start seeing the recession as an opportunity to start lowering wages unless absolutely necessary.

  • lowering wages? Halfords have never paid a massive amount!
