  • I was doing 1hr 50min 1/2 marathons, but having looked at my training logs, this was actually 3 years ago! How time flies when you're doing a desk job...

    Someone tell me to HTFU, but I always wanted my first marathon to be at a time when I was in really good shape, and had built up my fitness over years rather than putting in the miles just to do the marathon. Put it this way - when I first applied for the FLM I'd just done the Great South Run in 1hr 20mins and my bodyfat was at around the 12% mark. Now my bodyfat is double that and last week I did 10 miles in 2hrs. Because I'm not at my best, and know I can't and won't be by marathon weekend, it's making it that much harder.
