he would have been waiting for a mate with a master key.
WHAT LOCK? this is pretty important.
Its a Abus Steel O'flex Granit 1000 Lock.... So you have to know what your doing to bust that open.

does such a master key exist for all locks? I realise that there are coded replacement keys, but is there a single key that can access all steel-o-flex say? if so, imagine a key could quite easily fall into the wrong hands.

liquid nitrogen can break any lock on the planet... titainium anything.. pour it in, wait 10 seconds as it expands.. hit with a hammer..presto lock broken, it doesn't matter how thick the chain is or unique the lock.. these cunts have everything.. cos it is all organised crime.. My office used to be at Endell Street, Covent Garden and we could watch gangs of four, hit a bunch of locked bikes in under a minute.. and ride off.. it happens every day..
I have a ABUS STEEL CHAIN and meaty lock for a motocycle.. cost me £80.. it won't stop them..I would recommend getting your bike tagged, electronically, for £28 with datatag chip it is a deterrent bike labelled up. It might get stolen but if recovered easy traced back to you.. harden the fuck up, cos it will happen one day.. don't be precious.. riding fixxed is about mobility not bling..

Another very smart scam happen at my work in Camden off Parkway last year.. we had a courtyard in our office off the busy one way road, twenty odd bikes parked there, CCTV coverage, people coming and going every second.. there are guys with bikes looking like couriers broad day light scoping every locked bike in the joint, lock their bike next one they want to steal...then go into reception with a duff address looking lost... come out pick lock on expensive vunerable bike make off.. leaving their shite behind.. I lost a £2grand bike that way.. serves me fucking right for commuting twenty minutes on a campag record holeburner.. saw the bike gone on CCTV too.. probably got sold on for £500.. sickening yes.. lesson taught yes..

I'm gonna tattoo my bike like Lance Armstrong did to his Time Trial frame, recovered by the Police during the ATOC last week..

Snoops, don't get wrong man.. anyone who loses a bike.. it hurts cos the cunts are not interested in cycling.. I have a beautiful fixed wheel, and spent three months building it from scratch..
Italy track frame and forks were sand blasted it was a complete wreck most people would have given her up, had it re-sprayed by Condor classic cream, new headset, original cinelli crit handlebars, miche chainset, mavic wheels with maillard hubs.. brooks saddle and bartape.. I've spent probably £500+ and she rides like a dream..I know some cunt will have her one day.. it is tagged though and locked up safe, but when ever I go to get her I have that horrible feeling.. it would be like losing my girlfriend.. only less maintenance see.. Adam, I'm going to go to Brick Lane this weekend to see if BlueQuinn's mountain bike turns up, mainly because I am so frcking angry that I didn't open the door and smash the thieving cnts in the teeth when I heard them in our hallway yesterday (even though they were two six foot tall probable smack addicts). I'll keep an eye out for your bike too, and any others that people are still hoping are out there.

You must be taking the piss? Liquid Nitrogen?
Transported in vacuum flasks at -196 degrees c

I guess liquid nitrogen is transported round the country every day. Probably in the back of vans. Probably under pressure?

the scum will always find away to get your bike. you can deter them with locks, not take leave it out or always keep it close buy but that can't be a way to live. the best bet is tagging
http://www.bikeregister.com/howitworks.htm
if you are going to fork out £2k you might as well increase your chances of getting it back eh.

• #1743
Liquid nitrogen can be carried round in small flasks, not necessarily under pressure.
Should be well-insulated but with a loose-fitted top to let the excess gas out.
It will constantly boil off, but that's life. -
• #1744
I'd bet that NO bike thieves operate with liquid nitrogen.
-
• #1745
I think I would be kind of impressed if a thief used liquid nitrogen to nick my bike.
-
• #1746
Just a thought, but what do plumbers use to freeze pipes; available in my local builders merchant for less than £20?
-
• #1747
I would imagine that if you locked you bike up around UCL Tommy would be able to procure some liquid nitrogen and get it too the bike quickly enough to use it.
I would think that Liquid Nitrogen would be on the high risk side to carry around in ones bag however- a small spill and you risk your buttocks shattering when you sit down next.

Carbon Dioxide FTW
-
• #1749
The question is; would CO2 have the same effect on locks?
-

I'd bet that NO bike thieves operate with nitric oxide.
Fixed.
If you are in the West End and a bike goes missing it is sometimes worthwhile having a word with the newspaper sellers as they know most of the low lifes working the area.
