  • Well Street is E9, towards Victoria Park. I'll let you know.

  • I've just been to the Clapham Junction Lidl, looking for Panniers. No joy. They did have one of those handlebar bags but I don't want that.

Didn't see any cycle computers. I did get a helmet though. I managed to put a split in mine when I came off recently. Its pretty cheap (£9!) but I'm skint right now and I can always keep it as a spare/for guests when I can afford a nicer one. It fits me surprisingly well too (most helmets are way too small for me - lots of brains you see) and the build quality isn't bad considering. Its nicer than my Specialized helmet its replacing but thats about 10 years old.

  • I just went to the Wrexham Lidl. Got multitool and saddle bag. amazing value, in the saddlebag you get allen keys, tyre levers, spoke keys and a chain tool for £6 !

  • Forget about that Lidl or Aldi shit, guys. Go to a proper supplier to get stuff that lasts and that doesn't undercut local, independent business.

bollocks to that, they're stuff is well good value.

  • Do we have to stop using internet shops too? and halfords? and evans?

  • I went to Well Street: they have the computers and pretty much everything on the list (as far as I could tell).

I can see Oliver's point on local shops and product quality although I spend fair amount of money in LBSs (and ebay and internet shops) so I don't feel guilty about that. I'd never been to Lidl before and partly wanted to check it out because my girlfriend has been spooked by media hype and now and again suggests that we should start doing (at least some of) our grocery shopping there.

Condor are doing a deal on cateye computers though so I suspect that I would have got better value for money there. Buy cheap buy twice. I can find out (roughly and perhaps intermittently) how fast I cycle now though.

  • Again, where is well street? What part of London.

  • wicked thanks. I may try there tonight.

  • Woolwich, and old kent road nr Bermonsey. Post up if tyour Well Street one has them (whereever well street is).

I'm assuming the Woolwich one is different from the Charlton one... might be worth trying that if it's your neck of the woods. I know they had a ton of the cycling stuff last time I went when loads of the other shops had sold out (although that was 3-4 years ago).

Yeah it's different. I forgot about that one on my way in this morning. Because they are in stock at Hackney but not at Woolwich or Old Kent Road (or Clapham apparently ^^) I wonder if the South London lorry just did not have any.

  • btw, there are 2 different computers. The cheap one and another at £19.99 that has a heart monitor. There are far more of the heart monitor one.

  • @ Tommy

Welling store has got loads of most items except computers of which they were down to single figures. I took the liberty of buying a couple extra so pm me if you want one. I'm in Welling area.

Bought myself a jacket too and wrote Rapha on it in biro :)

Thanks for the info and offer! I'll go home today via Hackney and then Welling to see if they have any. If not I'll send you a pm. Thanks.

  • I got one of the cycle computers for £3.90 and they're pretty good, awesome when you consider the price! I'm going to get one for my second bike tomorrow. Recommend.

  • Dammit, wen't to my local lidl and they were sold out of all the good stuff, did manage to get some socks though (woo!).

  • I tried Hackney, only the heart rate monitor computers was on my way to Charlton and passed a Lidl just south of mile end and got two there. You have to ask at the counter for them though as they are locked away. Also bought some ice cream and some sandwiches.

  • Getting a bit pricey these days. Those shoes were £15 last year, now up to £18.58.

    Shocking.

Just installed one of those computer too, wireless for less than a fiver. Sweet.

Too bad I can't understand half of the functions :)

Anyone out there who knows how well it behave overtime, if it's accurate, etc etc..

  • Lidl cycling products including the Bicycle Tool Kit is back on 9th April: £24.99
I've heard that they are good value for money and I might pick one up.

  • One day I went to Lidl

  • Going to get a unicycle FTW

  • One day I went to Lidl

    Afrikan Boy ftw!

The Unicycle looks like fun. I used to have one once but it was kids size so nigh on impossible to ride. Can you imagine Asda selling some of the crazy shit lidl do.

  • BTW I had a tool kit like that when I was in Oz. The spanners and stuff are ok but the chain breaker and crank extractor both broke fairly soon. Its not a bad deal but just be mindful of any tool with moving parts. Of course its probably a good starter kit and you can upgrade to nicer tools when these break.
