Thanks, thanks, and thanks!

i reckon an early 90s groupset would suit it just fine.

If you want to go Italian and a bit more 'period', try Nigel Scott at Campyoldy in Wimborne.
He's got stacks of NOS Campagnolo goodness (including loads of rims) although when I was last there a couple of weeks ago he was doing very brisk business selling lots of it to the States (crap £ and all that), so I don't know how long his stock will last!
If you want to get new, I found Shiny Bikes to have the best prices at the moment. I picked up a Campy Veloce one for £321 (although I see it's gone up already).
Whilst the older gruppos are nicer in appearance, a new silver Campy 'set looks nicer, to my eyes than the grey finish on some of the new Shimano ones (and anyway, Eddy used Campy!).
Whatever you decide, I wouldn't hang about, the prices are already going up and they're going to increase even further this year!

Cheers guys. I just woke up to check eBay and found that I've been pipped to the post on the frame, by a lousy £20 no less. Damn.

does early 90's count as "period" now?

This is £20 10 hours to go.
I reckon it's worth £60-90 to the right buyer..
Just needs some campag cranks, headset, BB and pedals!
^most is probably early 90s Chorus. -

Sure, why not.....

i've heard that classic bikes are all the rage right now, so i'm on the lookout for a rare vintage early 2009 model unipak, preferably built-up with period-correct parts. keep your eyes out for me, please.

WRONG, it's all about the 2006 langster.

I've got a 90s Merckx Corsa (you've seen it Sparky). It used to be built up with hack bike bits and pieces, but I just treated it to a new Campag groupset and wheels (from Shiny bikes), and Ritchey WCS bits. I went with the black finish on the Campag, rather than silver, and despite it being an older bike the modern/black/stealthy thing really works on it.

Very witty. Apologies for my taste in bikes. I'll try in the future to find modern alu/carbon bikes more aesthetically appealing.

Yeah, it was in my kitchen for a while, no? I remember how nice it looked, even with a jumble of random parts.
Where did you find yours, and how much? I saw a lovely one on eBay last night and missed it by a hair, kicking myself slightly now....

easy now, bubbles. as it happens, i've got a rather fetching early 90s merckx frame, myself. i didn't think it was vintage enough to load it up with an early 90s groupset though.

Mine was from eBay. It was £175 for the frame and carbon fork, with a decent seatpost and stem thrown in.

Are there any new groupsets out there that would suit an early 90s Merckx frame, or would it be a case of keeping an eye on eBay for bits and pieces?
Also, does anyone know what size wheels Corsas from that period take?
