D_locks are just a different thing from chopping go to poping it open or ... the carbide thing YouTube - Carbide cuts Kryptonite Lock
so best strategy is to have both types of locks, chain and D-lock as they seem to have different needs for opening equipment (as sheldon brown says for years now) well and it dam' makes sense to me, too.
