It looked like it was plugged in to a power adaptor. Is that how it works...and where is it from..??

If you are referring to the hat, that would be Smeear original, from Smeear. ;)

It (the seat post) was plugged into a small inverter, I made it myself.

Peronally I reckon it a waste of time.
Unless you're gonna ride through a tanning booth straight into pitch black it ain't really gonna work.
It needs to be charged in high light and put straight into darkness.
As the sun fades slowly by the time night hits it'll be un-active.It's a novelty but still amazes me. But so did Global Hypercolor T-shirts...
Reflective is better or that colour changing paint is pretty good.

I put some black vinyl that reflects white light onto my frame and seat post, a cheap and cheerful option. good quality vinyl that can be removed and replaced for up to seven years. I also put some glow in the dark paint on my top tube around the cable guides, not such a good idea for exactly the reason Todd outlined.
without light shining directly on it

re glow in the dark paint
This is HOK long glow, charge it up with any light and it glows likek a neon tubehttp://www.deathspraycustom.com/index.php?/project/velocity-wheels/
Have been following the glow in the dark postings in bike porn. I had a HED 3 sprayed with House of Kolor 'Long Glo' paint. Kind of successful, if a bit patchy. You really do need to charge it up quite a lot in strong sunlight for best effect. The good thing about House of Kolor is they have a number of different colour glow paints - I used a blue green. The bad thing is you need a specialist - read expensive - painter to use it.
Has anyone found a really effective/bright and easy to use luminous paint?
Finally, what was the neon seatpost?
