  • what happens if you get locked in?

    You fight for survival.

  • Did 2 laps of RP this morning and to my amusement the whole park was cycling clockwise.

The wind gusts from Roehampton Gate to Sawyers Hill were punishing, really hard on my own and I had no one to wheelsuck as everyone was doing clockwise laps!

Apply liberally if you intend to do a few laps today.

  • Hippy and MikeC, I use to ride RP most winter saturdays, trek over from NW8, three laps with the FIREFLIES bacon and egg butty afterward then ride back home, a decent round trip and out of the house for 3hours.. not anymore since the road bike is in pieces now, and i have started to enjoy my weekend lay-ins, but it did surprise me that some people drove there first.. I am all for charging cars into RP.. tollgates at every entrance I say..

  • Sawyers hill anti was an arsehole today

  • Ved and Broker, I usually ride from roehampton gate cafe anti clockwise one lap to Roe. gate roundabout then back clockwise one lap, finishing anticlockwise final lap.. there is much more variety I think, and Sawyers Hill twice what joy... not

  • how windy is it out there now?

I just came back from streatham common and it was all I could do to hold the bike on the downhill to stop from being blown across into the traffic!

  • I'm staying indoors RPM, I have just registered for the Drei Laender Giro though, 48euro entry fee..104mile ballbuster Austria/Italy/Switzerland euro sportive, if anyone fancies an alpine tour..event takes place 21 June from Nauders, Austria..

  • My ride back from Wimbledon was very fast and pleasant. With the wind on my back it felt almost warm.

Mind you, got very wet later when I went out with my younger daughter on her first ride in London's famous traffic. We went to look for inspiration for her at Tour de Ville and only succeeded in buying me a track bike and then went to watch the hipsters play croquet at Mitchison Road only to discover that hipsters don't do rain. Camilla was very disappointed.

  • they were still locking the gates at 8ish and culling on Wednesday when Adnam and I did a couple of laps. if anyone's interested in joining for more quick laps (c.20-21 mins), we're likely meeting again on Tuesday at 7pm.

Would be up for 2-3 fast laps tonight given things don't get too busy at work. Take off 7pm Roehampton Gate?

  • Dulwichrider and I are meeting tonight at Roehampton Gate for a few fast laps of RP.

    All welcome.

    7pm prompt start.

  • I just phoned the Richmond Park office.

They confirmed that the deer cull is now finished.

Good news for people who can't get down their till well after 8pm :)

  • What BMMF conveniently 'forgot' to mention is that they're now starting the forum members cull.

  • ^ RP is a very bad choice for a substantial forum member cull.

    You're a maverick for sure!
I am a law-abider so will not be swayed by your fantastical suggestion.

  • would it be alright to go out and join you guys tonight with just a 'be-seen' commuting light? overcast tonight

  • I'm not riding tonight... but from my ride last week it is very dark in the park and when moving fast you have very little warning of what is coming at you out of the dark... the more light you have the safer it is for all...

I was running a CatEye HL-EL320 which was fine... I'd still like even more light.

  • Desi, thats all I have too, there should be a near full moon rising tonight, so I am told!

    Come along!

  • it is not ideal but I didn't bring the bright light either. did it before and these overcast nights actually work better as there is more reflection of ambient city light going on or whatever. see you there in 1h

  • Right, I'm going to mount 2 lights.

  • k. ill be there. will see what it's like when we're there. go slow to begin with

  • Mind the deer.

  • Thanks dear.

  • don't worry about the deer... they all in hiding after being shot at for weeks...

watch out for the inline skaters who have no light and are dressed in dark clothes! fools

  • claus, the forum member cull is happening next week on the Clerkenwell Road.
