GBP vs. Jap Yen Jan 08 - Jan 09
It's little wonder we're experiencing big price rises. So when your next bike part purchase leaves you without and change for a beer don't blame Shimano - you've got the prize plonkers who run the banks in the US and UK to thank for it!
Re Malko - All legit (i.e Madison brought) Shimano UK stock is bought in Yen and shipped direct from Japan (not via USA).

True.
Just look at the prices of Nitto components from UK sellers. The price for B123s used to be about £36. Now most are charging £70 for them. Nitto NJPro Steel stems are £120 too! Madness... shiny madness... shiny... shiny.. who cares. I'll pay anything for it.

Edwardes in Camberwell had hi flange in stock for ages for £150 which is now probably quite a bargain.

shit the bed...im waiting for the people at cycletowork to produce my voucher for a very carefully worked out (to the penny) bike that i managed to scrape under £1000 so i can harvest parts from it for my racing bike.
fingers crossed as it is the campagnolo groupset i am after, other items like the USE seatpost might have to fall by the wayside. balls. -

a lot of the new bikes next year will use SRAM because of the shimano prise rise. I think there is going to be one more price increase relatively soon aswell...

I think you'll find that Sram prices have also just recently been increased. OEM pricing is also world's apart from aftermarket.
I brought forward a Campy groupset purchase recently, rather than face the inevitable hike(s) in the next few months.
If you can, don't hang about, buy now, to avoid wallet hammering disappointment later!
