  • if all part in stock, and if you have the money to get it, then yes it's possible, but expensive thought, I would have save £150 on my missus' bike had it not been for the deadline (end up buying new part for it to get it done).

ed, i met you and the 'missus' the other day on old st/clarkenwell. Nice to meet you. Her bike looked reeeeeeally pretty. I agree. Did you splash out at freshtripe?

  • 2nd hand bike

remove all the bike beside the brakes (or just the front), get a new rear wheel build by your LBS, learn how to add/remove chain and you're sorted.

unless the BB and crankset is damaged, just get them to put a cheap Andes one and you're sorted, yet you still be paying just half the price of the Plug and pretty much half the weight!

and make sure you don't get an old 27 1/4 inch touring frame. i have a bit of a bodge going in terms of brake reach/pinch with one such frame and an old weinmann on 700c's

  • fuck off if you dont like plugs sick of all the wank on here about dissing otps
ive had one and ive got a self build i had for two years
i bout a plug cus i wanted see what that shit was like and dont tell me
that its ok for newbies or people who dont know shit about bikes

I didn't actually, I only brought the VO Orange bar from Freshtripe.

the other days? I can't remember for the life of me! oh you mean on Saturday heading east?

fucking hell mate, steady on, no one here claiming the bike is shit, it's a decent bike for the money, we're only commenting about the Plug Freestyler which is a lots of money for a different bar change and colour.

have you even read the whole topic? the conclusion is that the Charge Plug is a decent bike for people who want a bike to go around town with, but right now with the weakened pounds, it's a lots of money for that kind of bike.

  • how can you call this a joke?

that was in the bike porn actually.

  • i have read it yeah
ive read alot of the anti charge feeds on here and its out of order
it shouldnt matter what you ride
they are a british company trying to do their best
if people wanna support them then let them...it aint no corporate machine
so what if the hubs arent sealed !!!! WHO fucking cares!!!!!
im not having a go at you in particular
im just fucked off with the whole mentality

the thing is here mate, don't take everything seriously, after all it's just a bike.

so what if the hubs arent sealed !!!! WHO fucking cares!!!!!

actually that really important when you're not riding a velodomes, I used to have hubs that are not sealed and it already got clogged with dirt and grim after a couple months.

  • Here's one I made earlier... It's a lot of fun

It's an open discussion about the Plug. Whether it is good value for money, good weight for money, what the strengths and weaknesses are etc,.

If you don't want to hear that then maybe don't read the thread?

I have just bought an off the peg single speed cross bike because it worked out a better deal than building myself (especially with limited frame options) and I have been putting bikes together for 20 years so nothing against OTP at all. That doesn't mean I can't say one is better than another though does it?

That yours? You really ought to lock that front wheel with a quick release. Saw it on high street looking a bit vulnerable. Nice though :)
I always think theres something very 80s black and white leapard print about that stem lol. Pimp-like.

  • The front wheel does have quick release. I usually whip the front off if I park it up, but also carry a ton of Kryptonite if I can't take it with me.

The pattern on the stem is called Bacterio & is straight out of the Memphis design movement during the early 80's ...I'm a bit obsessed with it :s

  • When I brought a 2nd hand bike, I don't even know how to tinkle with it in the first place, the stuff I mentioned were easily done without even the knowledge of certain stuff;

    2nd hand bike

remove all the bike beside the brakes (or just the front), get a new rear wheel build by your LBS, learn how to add/remove chain and you're sorted.

unless the BB and crankset is damaged, just get them to put a cheap Andes one and you're sorted, yet you still be paying just half the price of the Plug and pretty much half the weight!

Got onto gbob and the hippy bike shop here in manchester and they mentioned a few things and asked to concider an SE bike or they could build something. I think im going to look into getting a decent 2nd hand frame and going from there, im going to pop in and have a chat with them about what im after next week i think.
again thanks for all the advice.

  • You can always go to a bike shop such as cavendish cycles and get them to build you a bike of similar price range to the Charge (IRO frame specifically) and it´ll be better and lighter.

what the hell? better as in how

  • my freestyler is great i payed 470 it was size large and dident barspin untill i changed the tyre and place a spacer below the bottom headset cup i can show nothing but love but i am thinking of getting diffrent forks

Well... the saddle-bar drop is verging on amusing. I'd like to see the rider get into the drops and still be able to breathe.

Most of the time You'd have to be riding on the tops of those track drops, which is dumb. bullhorns for the win. They look cooler too.

The amount of seat post showing would suggest the frame is too small (that is a lot of post for a horizontal top tube frame)
And I would also like to see someone ride in those drops for any length of time and although I don't actually like bullhorns I would agree they are a better comfort choice if the drops are never going to be used...

  • I dont get how people can ride with their hands touching the stem through traffic. I mean, I've done it myself when i first started (used to have a bianchi pista), but it was so uncomfortable! and anything out of the saddle was nigh on impossible.

actually it was surprisingly comfortable, have it occur to you that the ride of this bike have a rather long arm?

  • lol

  • fixed or coasting? lycra? skinny jeans? cycling cap? NEED MORE INFO ON TORODE!!!

Torode update: saw him again this morning. He was in front of me and ran the monster red at Stockwell station, leaving the lycra brigade standing around patiently like lemons. That one even I usually wait out. Maybe he was hungry? Or late? I couldn't close him down cos was with the GF, then he split off toward Vauxhall and I go Elephant Way. I'll get you next time, Chef-Man! Mwahahahhaaaa

  • that black plug looks awesome, with those wheels.
My comment after reading this whole thread is who the fuck cares as long as you have fun.
