didn't know there were trails in sutton park. every time we tried to build some there, they got ruined by mtbers. i havent seen many pics of suttons jumps, dunno if they're any good but its if you want a good rhythm section get the train to walsall and then pedal about 5 or 6 miles up to burntwood trails (i think they're called sandhills or brownhills). I dunno if bmxers still ride there, but plenty of mtbers do.
last time i went i was riding a brakeless street bike (dragonfly dfx) with Rekka pegs, which must have weighed about double that of a decent trails bike at the time (nowadays a trails bike is probably lighter than one rekka peg lol).
there are at least 3 lines there with 5 or 6 jumps in a row - the one on the left is massive, couldn't get to the end of that one. middle one's big but easy, proper stoked feeling when you get through it, but i always lost so much speed by the last set that i could only just about clear it, could never bust any tricks over it. the one on the right was impossible as the first jump is just bare distance from the landing - we were trying it for ages, going as fast as we possibly could, sucking the take-off up, and still landing on the backside of the landing. its a good job the back was soft cos i landed knee first on it the one time.
and of course burntwood skatepark is just around the corner from it... i miss riding there in the summer then driving home with a sprained ankle from a feeble to hard way 180 gone awry...
i heard that hardwick woodz in streetly are good as well.
i wonder if lichfield trails are still there, by the army barracks, i heard they got deleted ages ago but who knows.

Just Re-read the OP, one of my neighbours rides his mtb in the park (I think) I'll ask him about it.

bit late in the day on this one but there's loads of xc trails in sutton park. there's a kinda homemade jump section near four oaks - it's off a tarmac road that runs up towards four oaks gate. you need to turn off up into the woods at 'heart-attack hill' and there's a couple of doubles, few drops and all sort's of homemade stuff - some of it's a bit shady though & moist after rain. that said, haven't checked it for six-months but it's been there years so guessing it still is. next time i'm up the park i'll check it out. i know the park well, so if anyone needs a guide gimme a shout....

Fuck me... Rekka parts still exist! http://www.customriders.com/prodshow.asp?prodid=2627&cat=0&parent=0&sid=3
I highly rekkamend these headset cups - I broke about 50 headsets in 9 yearz of riding bmx, but you cant break a rekka headset.I did grind thru the rekka pegs though, cos I grinded everything on them, including rough brick walls outside walsall library.
Anyone here ride trails/jumps?
Got a mtb jump bike lying unused since 07, would like to get back on it and ride some dirt now the weather is warming up.
It hasnt rained in a while, Birmingham Wheels should be rideable?
Not that familiar with other spots, im told theres some good riding in sutton park.
You can come have turns on my bike if you dont have anything suitable , I suck anyway. But its all good fun.
