Is Lee Green far enough away Ved?
Will be biking down there for another weekday evening ride, 7pm Tuesday (barring heavy rain).
err I let you off Tom, you could get a train to Waterloo East though?!
-
• #754
it's actually faster to cycle across town than to drive there - usually c.1 hr vs c.1 1/2 hrs - so driving is usually for reasons out of my control, my gf's shopping, carrying spare bikes, listening to Radio 4 etc ...
re the weather, I'll believe it at 6pm on Tuesday evening, when it's actually pouring with rain!

OK. It did pour with rain. So take two is likely this evening. 7pm. A few quick laps.

As the memorial ride is on the 7th next Saturday, I will be missing herne hill opening.
As such I will do a few laps of RP at 9:30 on Sunday, anyone else welcome to join me.
Tom sorry, I will meet you at RP on a school night at some point, I have footy tonight.

I was thinking the same Ved, id be up for hitting it v early, home shower and then up north. you will have to have your own shower but we could head up north from west if you fancy it?
In fact there are a few heading up so we could gather together at the Sloaney Pony @ 11 and head up on mass?

I'll be up for a RP night ride as well soon, if the shooters have dispersed. Won't be able to get down there till 9.30/10ish though.

I aim to go to HH and then join up with the memorial ride en route. Not being funny or disrespectful, but with that many cyclists. I can see many punctures and general disruptions which makes me think that by 1.30ish, won't have progressed very far. I may phone you Pip to check on your whereabouts if that is ok?

- sorry for being a bit daft - I know HH is on tomorrow and the memorial ride - but is anyone headed to RP tomorrow morning? I'm not up for anything mental, but might head over for a few easy laps and a flapjack if anyone else is?
BMMF - RP night rides? I'll be out this Wed for the full moon, probably about 7.30+ On a clear night you don't need headlights, just a flashing led to warn the joggers. No need for the silver bullets either.

Definitely considering a midweek nightride, but definitely can't get down there till gone 9pm.
I'll watch this space for developments though.
I'd bring silver bullets just in case - have you seen how hirsute I am?

they were still locking the gates at 8ish and culling on Wednesday when Adnam and I did a couple of laps. if anyone's interested in joining for more quick laps (c.20-21 mins), we're likely meeting again on Tuesday at 7pm.

Fine - I'll be geared, of course. Hopefully after the cull there won't be too many rich twat boy racer deers pulling out on us.

Dulwichrider, thanks for the heads up on the cull/closing times, I've been caught out by this before.
It can be hit and miss - no pun intended - as to what time the gates are locked, sometimes not at all even when the cull signs are up. Will keep in touch re. Tues eve, I could chip off work early and come to join you.

The cull was still going on on Wednesday although it should be done by the week after.
They start closing the gates at 8pm although there's only one set of blokes doing it so it takes them a while to get round to all 7 gates. They have to flag down and stop anyone they see and tell them to get out.
I think they start at Richmond Gate at 8pm (or maybe Ham) and go clockwise.
The other week I started my third lap passing Roehampton Gate at about 8.05pm (I'd forgotten about the cull). 5 minutes later someone coming down Sawyer's Hill stopped and asked me about the gates saying that Richmond Gate was locked. I didn't see the blokes in the landrover so I assume they were off locking up Sheen Gate.
I carried on round my lap and bumped in to them at the top of Bastard Hill (thankfully not at the bottom). They told me to turn around and go out of Kingston gate. I followed them to Ladderstile gate and went out just before they locked it.
