Am I the only one to find all these retro-builds a bit naff. I love a classy old bike as much as the next man...well, actually a lot more than the next man. But the beauty of an old bike is made up of a lot of different things, a big piece of which is the fact that at some point in the past it was cutting edge technology. Once you layer that with the bumps and bangs or 'cough' patina, then you have something that is beautiful. The bikes above look very nice, but seem to me to be a bit like artificially aged jeans i.e. slightly missing the point.
Americans don't get the whole "history" thing, having none of their own.
Worse still for them, they won the war but the gooks have got the best bikes.
