  • Maybe we need to get GA2G's company to send a representative to the big events with a remit to re-educate said tea leaves if they show up?

  • Well wouldn't the nicking of said saddle and post make him a thief?

Anyway not why I'm here, spotted this Condor racing bike on Gumtree and the fella seems to have various personalities.

    that is emilia.

  • And apparently that bike is very "nice to drive"

    A true cyclist. lolzz

    Same ad is back up.

    reported.

    its down again.

  • I has one of these...

Does anyone know if the shackle can be rotated if it's cut through at one point? It occurred to me that with most locks if you cut through the shackle, you can just twist it so it can be taken off the bike. If it can't be rotated, then you're effectively requiring the thief cut through the shackle in two places for it to be removed?

  • If they have the means to cut through one side, then the other isn't going to be a problem for them.

Basically, if they've got an angle grinder you're screwed.

True, but I'm guessing it would take them double the time, so if you're in public it's that much riskier to try it?

    Just thinking like...

  • if I remember correctly, kryponite locks can be rotated. on-guard locks do not rotate due to their dual locking-mechanism.

  • i once had to use a small angle grinder on my mates d-lock because he lost the key. it was like a hot knife through butter, this was a few years ago on a £30ish lock. I've spent £50 on mine, supposedly it has some kind of 'special-anti-anglegrinder-finish'. so far so good, but imo if you leave a bike anywhere overnight it won't make a difference.

  • The Fah Mini is very thick and it have dual locking mechanism.

  • can you not get titanium D locks.
surely titanium would be a fucking challenge to grind through

*a ti lock would cost a bit, but still, anything out there?

nope, the misconception about ti is that it's only lighter than steel and offer better corrosion resistance, it's far too soft and can be quite brittle if it in a solid form like an U-lock.

Then they'd just wear a hi-viz vest and pretend to be removing bikes for the council

+1 to what Ed said, there's a whole thread about this:

Aaaargh! That's my photo! It's definitely not my bike that's being sold, because I can see it in the corner of my room right now, but that photo only exists on here and pn Facebook, and I feel rather freaked out that someone has trawled through either and lifted it.

  • Wac!

  • The Condor is back up on Gumtree. This time with a new number 07527908206. http://www.gumtree.com/london/06/35458406.html

  • Report the number to the police and bust that bitch ass

  • ^^Down again. Methinks that several thieves know about this forum and are members. Identifying them is impossible and restricting membership is impractical, and a posting stuff in the private forums is pointless cos if I can see it, so can any thief who's joined up so I guess all we can do is prevent them selling.

  • Condor Pista stolen anyone?

sorry stallionlegs, that looks like somebody offering a reward not selling one.

  • Basically, if they've got an angle grinder you're screwed.

though it'll take them a while...

ABUS Varedo takes about 10 minutes with angle grinder & then bolt cutters to smash the rest off. (At Cambridge Station Cycles we have the privelige of removing locks from bikes at the station)

  • saw a santa cruz mtb in stratford this morning
some dude with shopping bags over the handle bars
    something looked wrong ?
anyone know anyone who's lost a santa cruz
