Gel pads, bar tape and gloves will take the edge off of the buzz for sure. It's hardly Paris-Roubaix...

Got the Fizik gel kit and it is very nice. The tape is a good 'all-weather' tape too. -

turn the speed settings down.

tyres are the main thing to consider to reduce vibration IMO.
Bar tape, different bars, carbon forks i can't see making as big a difference as the tyres will.

Bontrager do those "Buzzkill" barend plugs.... don't know if they work though...
-
• #31
Yep they do on high frequence vibration (high pressures on rumbling tarmac) n I've got a couple of spares kicking around somewhere.

we still don't know if he has a radially spoked front wheel, this would be first thing to change if so...imho

I still vote for 'bend your fucking elbows'.

Probably riding around in vintage track mitts with no tape/grips on his bars arms locked out in classic tortured creative soul hunched forward position

the difference is minimal, allegedly between a radial and a x3 wheel.
0.4 mm is what Mike Burrows measured it as. -

Sheldon has loads on proper posture. The single biggest change I made to my riding comfort.

Cost-effectiveness fail. I refer the OP to my earlier list.

I say so because I recently changed my lightweight radial wheel for a touring 2x one.
I was shocked by how different it felt, my frame/forks is very stiff so riding with the radial was at times brutal. The 2x feels load better, combined with the new grippier tyre I can actually feel the wheel flex around tight turns.
He said his bike is aluminium so its probably a modern bike. So it may well have very low spoke count. Im not sure how this affects feel. But im guessing itd be stiffer to to much higher spoke tension.

Meh. I've got a low spoke count radial on the front of the Ribble and I'd prefer 3x for lateral stiffness. 20 spoke Cosmos flexes a lot under my weight. Comfort-wise I've noticed fuck all between bikes. I have thick bar tape and wear gloves. See post 8, lose the attitude and ride.. :P

fuck that, this is an excuse to add carbon to his bike. more carbon wins! cost effectiveness be damned!
he knows he wants carbon forks.
-
• #46
No, he wants gel forks, carbon gloves, 3-cross tyres, and padded spokes.
-
• #47
he wants kangaroo boots
no vibrations and lotsa bounce
