  • I've been riding my aerorage for 8 months now, (and i generally abuse them with copious skids and skips), and they have withstood this abuse almost perfectly. I rode into the hugest pothole imaginable ages ago. My back wheel took the brunt, instant puncture, as well as the clincher wall being slightly dented. But with a small amount of truing they have continued to ride fine for 6 months with no need of more truing... i recommend them as a budget wheel build.

My post was about the rear hubs, not the rims, which have been fine (as you'd expect from Halo). General build was good too and neither wheel had needed truing from 3 months of riding them, which was a pleasant surprise.

I live at the top of a big, steep hill and tend to do gentle skids to slow down, as well as using my front brake. I'm also about 14 stone. So they get more abuse than they would if I was a lighter person, living in a flatter bit of London.

Frankly, if Halo had just said "oops, maybe you got a bad one, here's another" I'd have probably taken them at their word. But since their attitude is "must have been you cross-threading the entire cog 3 months previously" without even examining them, I'm taking that brazen "fuck off" as an acknowledgement that they are all of a similar quality, ie cheap and soft.
