Some help please!

  • Was wodering if anyone knew of where to get hold of French threaded BB's?
I bought a Lejeune frame a whille back, which was destined to be a beater/polo bike. But i got another frame, so the Lejeune just sat there gathering dust.

I have now decided to build it into a beater/tricks/polo bike, and therefore i would like the BB to be pretty robust, and prefarably sealed. I'm not sure what length spindle i'm after as i'm not sure what cranks will be put on the bike.

I know this is all a bit vauge, but help would be appreciated nevertheless.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

  • Here's the frame:

Unfortunately the pic doesn't show it, but it has really nice rear fork and seatstay bridges, and is generally quite a nice, light frame.

  • get a threadless one if you want a sealed one,
or get some cups off ebay for an unsealed one.
Or retap the threads the other direction (get a shop to do this).

  • I'm currently sorting a 70's Gitane (with super vitus tubing) and i'm probably going to put a threadless one in. if you seach YST on ebay you can get them...

  • I haven't herad much about threadless bb's, are they any good?

By tapping the threads in the other direction, does this mean that you can fit an english threaded bb?

  • Apparently (so the bike shop man says) its only the threading that is different, all the sizes are the same, its just the right cup is threaded in a different direction.
