People who cycle to work

I know this is a "cycle to work" thread, but I'm interested to know what people would do if they had to attend some sort of black tie/smart suit event with no chance of getting changed on arrival.

I like to minimise my public transport usage but I think that would be inconvenient enough to warrant taking a bus, tube, or even a cab.

Ideally you need friends dotted around the city so you can cycle to their house, get changed then take a 5-10 minute walk to wherever you need to go (enough time to down a couple of cans? Get the party started early?)

that's easy, take a bike.

if the dutch can do it easily without breaking a sweat, so can we.
