I did exactly the same when riding geared and ss
if you have enough control over your bike then i think a front brake is enough. I try not to stop too much anyway so i never have to use the full power of the brake.
However, incase you ever encounter an emergy stop situation, a rear brake combined with the front will make a huge difference in a stable stop. But you can equally well stop just with the front one if you know how to use it - not squeeze it all in too quickly, dab gently to a stop
