Weird high-flange tandem rear hub - help please!

Posted on
  • So I have an oldish Bob Jacko Tandem (late 70's maybe? Dunno), with very odd hubs. They were rebuilt by the previous owner, who sent the hubs to Alf Webb for new rims and spokes.

He's done a nice job, but I'm concerned that the distance between the flanges is a wee bit small - the fact that it's got an old screw-on freewheel doesn't exactly help. It's 125mm OLN and the flanges are ~35mm apart. The (slight) bonus is that it's a flip-flop hub, so there's no dishing which I guess will strengthen it up a bit.

So, can anyone put a name to these hubs, or even better give me a clue as to whether I should feel confident putting some serious miles on this thing?

    Thanks everyone.

  • if it is a tandem hub, it should hold up to most things

What, even my fat arse plus my wife's not fat arse?

  • That thing looks pretty sturdy.. I think you would be fine.
