Bonty hardcase? I have been riding a pair recently and they feel great! Not folding, but pretty cheap.
Other bike has rubino pros, a popular choice.

i wouldn't say thats granny gearing.

They're sticky as shit, but they do get more skid friendly after a while. Still, I need to stop skidding because my knee is going to explode pretty soon...

I fitted armadillos (28s) a week ago and have already had two punctures from small sharp stones. ** fucking shite and a waste of money.** going to get schwalbe marathon plus next.
My 23's have lasted 2 years, no punctures.

What do you prefer? I've had hardcases on since July - one puncture in all that time and still in good shape (probably around 3500 miles on them now). Fancy something different for a change and Rubino Pros seem flavour of the month around here? Have had my eye on Ultremo's though - sexy sidewalls...

i've had a pair of these on since early september so about 22 weeks, 2500 miles a lot of rain and a regular commute that includes kilburn high road, edgeware road and park lane. no punctures yet. def the longest i've ever been without a flat during a period when i'm probably riding more than ever. can't be bad eh?
i found them almost too grippy at first but settled down nicely adter a few days. i try and preserve tyres by keeping skidding in the dry to a minimum.

Just looking on wiggle, aparently Rubino Pro's have:
"Mithril sidewall protection"As it the fictional Lord of the Rings shit?
Yes, they've just found some in an abandoned mine in Wales. Naturally, the first application they could think of was for bike tyres.

Having gone through a month of 5 Friday flat tyres (damn Thursday night city boys smashing their Brahma bottles) I whacked on an armadillo at the back and a gatorskin at the front and 3 months in not a single flat - that said when it's wet and your really leaning into a corner I make a little whimpering noise as the Armadillo considers the possibility of letting go.
You could always ensure you get no punctures by riding on your rims. Yes you'll ruin your spine and your bike but you're guaranteed no flats....cheaper than new tyres too. Kinda.

tried that, my hand went completely numb, soaked in sweat, cycling was incredibly hard and neither the saddle helped.
did New Cross to Wimbledon on a bike with a flat tyres on the front, I says thank fuck it's only the front and not the back!

i run spec armildillos and they are fine,a bit heavy but they work well, a tough durable tyre which i use all winter with no puntures.

Rode over a load of glass a couple of days ago and picked several large pieces out of my front tyre (armadillo) - despite riding along for several hundred metres with the glass embedded in the tyre, I didn't get a single puncture...

- for rubino pros. they make sense for a back tyre, high psi makes them roll great and they skid nicely, thumbs up.

I can continue here I guess :P
So, 3rd or 4th ride with the Rubino Pros, manage to cet a big-ish puncture to both front and rear tyre. Both get 1cm-ish cut. The front tyre seems ok, but the rear one now punctures the inner tyre as theres some bit sharper part of the tyre sticking a bit inside.
How should I fix it? Would a patch (on the inside of the tyre) or piece of old inner tube do it? Or should I cut up my Luganos and try to patch it with a piece of those? :P
edit.
... should've got dem refuses.. :P

it's time to let go; it had a good (albeit short) life but now you have to say goodbye.

Hmm... I'm not sure if you were serious or not but I guess you were right. When pumped up to 130-140psi the hole looks pretty bad, especially on the back. And there isn't really any way to repair it, right?
I guess its time to get Refuses then or Gatorskins or something. And something bigger than 23s. Nice life span for Rubino Pros :D
For fucks sake...
FUCK

Epic Fail :(

anyone know where/how to recycle old tyres? I feel too bad just chucking them in the bin
pref something simple (ie not turning them into a belt and charging £20 - BLB style)
-

There's a recycling post in Warren Street

right, I am fully stuck for what tyre to buy for my rear wheel after skidding through a michelin dynamic (cheap) in 4 rides. Has anyone one toyed with running hard surface cross tyres? vittoria do this http://www.probikekit.com/display.php?code=Y1153
failing that i guess it is between maxxis refuse or conti gatorskin. I know theres a tyre section but theres mixed opinions...

Vittoria Randonneur £12

refuse on the front, randonneur on the back.

Don't put a refuse on the back, really nice tyres but too soft if you are skidding on them.
