  • Got a 1/8 Phil Wood sprocket and lockring. Will this fit nicely onto a Miche Primato hub? Anyone running this setup?

Alternatively, I will have Miche carrier and sprocket on monday. In worse case scenario, can I run Miche sprocket and Phil locking?

    Searched already ! :p

    thanks!

  • Sprocket should be fine. You will probably need a Miche lockring, though.

  • Cool, will give it a go when I'm back in London...

I heard the Miche lockrings were a bit naff?

  • Maybe, but they fit...

    I don't think they're all that bad - I run Miche hubs.

  • I built some Miche last week. I was surprised to find a DA lockring wouldn't go on a Miche hub.

  • DA - english thread
    Miche - italian thread

    don't try it at home

I think your more likely to find you can run the Phil sprocket but have to use the Miche lockring.

  • DA - english thread
    Miche - italian thread

I didn't know that applied to hubs, not just BBs.

    bike knowledge epiphany

  • The miche thread is still counter-clockwise though. Just a different size or pitch. Anyways, DA don't fit it. Nor Phil, nor EAI neither.

  • Afaik Phil's are Italian thread..

You can use Campy-lockrings on Miche as well..

  • Yep, googled it, should be able to use both the Phil cog and locking on the Miche hub..

Will let u guys know ;)

  • I stand corrected.

  • I'm having some issues with the Miche lockring on my Miche hub. It must be made of butter, it's pretty shit. I hear you can fit Phil and Campy lockrings, are there any others?

  • Possibly a surly lockring? there's are pretty well made.

  • They're not compatible. The Miche hubs are Italian, therefore have a stupid thread that is different from almost every other brand.

  • great

  • wonderful

  • will a surly cog work on miche hubs?

  • ^ lockrings are the only compatability issue on modern hubs. cogs will spin onto anything

  • will a surly cog work on miche hubs?

You simply did not read the whole topic did you? you just search for it, and then post your question without even reading a somewhat short topic!

  • Oh dear Ed, what have we got here? Another person asking questions without reading the whole post, I really can't believe this would happen.

  • To be fair, this thread would pass muster as the base text for one of those SAT logic tests.

@indieross: the cog will fit, but you'll need to get a Miche-compatible lockring.

Actually, I have noticed that whilst all cogs I've tried do fit on Miche hubs, Miche and Phil cogs go on smooth but the others I've tried (EAI and Condor's own brand) go on very tight by comparison.

  • some of you are slightly wrong...

    English/ISO ...................1.29" x 24 TPI
    Campagnolo/Phil Wood.... 1.32" x 24 TPI
    Old French ...................33 mm x 1.0 mm

this was taken from here http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_l.html

miche and mavic both use the french lock ring threading...!

  • Which 'some' were you talking about? I'm sure the majority of people are saying that the lock rings are of varying sizes but the cogs are all the same. Therefore what you just said is stating that people are right, not wrong.

  • They're not compatible. The Miche hubs are Italian, therefore have a stupid thread that is different from almost every other brand.

    miche use french threading
