i've done it. It worked just fine

you should only have to drill the rear to accept the bigger bolt.
-

Yeah I did this to elguapo's forks, as 31trum said you only need to drill the rear though. One thing to mention is that it is hard stuff, I wouldn't want to tackle the job with a hand held drill or anything without shit loads of grunt.

Yep, done it. Piece of piss, just need a metal drill a steady hand and a file if you want to tidy it up after. Just drill the back hole as Mr Murts says.

Eh moog ? I did it in about 30 seconds with a drill bit in a hand held screwdriver, no probs.
Will obviously depend on what your forks are like and how big the original hole is but it was pretty easy going.

I heard he was an expert at that

Maybe the forks I drilled weren't the norm then. I took an 6mm hole up to 8mm then 8.5mm and it was hard work with a pillar drill. Didn't use any coolant or cutting compound but still, I really wasn't expecting it to be that tough.

Strange that, I just plowed straight in and drilled up to 8mm from 6mm. No lube or anything.

just the way i like it

I would say just get your Bosch out and have a pop. A vice might be useful though.

I did it on an old pugeout a couple of weeks back. had to do front and rear, but was pretty easy with a decent handheld drill.
word of advice though - wear eye protection, the little bits of metal that fly off could do some right old damage.

Don't some old frames use steel with quite a lot of carbon? Heard that's why they can be hard as fuck to drill.

Got a nice old frame with the weiman old style brakes I want to fit a front modern brake with the alan key type screw and the only way around this seems to be the drill or is there another way cheers
