Welcome, there's lots of info on the forum already, the search function is very useful
For example a plethera of info on Gear Ratios here
Where are you based? get yourself to one of the local drinks/meets if you can - even if you are geared you'll be more than welcome, plus you'll get to potentially try lots of fixed bikes.
Also the general intro thread is here, might be better to post there than start new threads.

I think cats and riders go together well, isn't there a thread called post your cat?
-

not like post it, in the mail. that would be expensive and might even screw the cat up;. in the brain box as well as physically.
but just put pictures up of it -

Why is the OP no longer contributing to his thread?
Maybe he doesn't like cats?
-
• #24
Well I did give him one sensible answer, but then I couldn't resist the slide into lolcat sillyness

How did he circumvent the nursery and create a thread with his first post?
Hi - I'm new to the forum, just posting to introduce myself.
I'm planning to build up a fixer at some point, and would welcome any advice any one has regarding gear ratios etc.
I've only been into cycling for about 18 months, but love it, ride all the time if the weather allows, currently ride geared bikes, a Condor Italia (aluminium with carbon forks and seat stays - summer bike), and a Pinarello Sestriere (steel, with the original steel forks, and mudguard clearances - winter bike).
cheers
