sidecar!

• #3
actually have you tried bike fix and trev?
-
• #4
bikefix would be a good option.. otherwise my freind jacob has one but its a track tandem so whoever you were with would have to be damn competent.
-
• #5
isn't there a daisy daisy on the forum with a tandem ....
i'm sure i've seen pictures of her looking sweet on the seat of a bicycle made for two -

stelle
worth a posting this on ctc perhaps, there'a a ton of those tandem weirdos on there. -
• #7
bikefix have those long tail bikes that you could sit on the back off. You would not even need to pedal!

Random, yes, but just wondering if anyone had a tandem I could borrow? Or any likely contacts? For a few days/week/whatever.
I'm trying to make a film in the same vein as this:
(yes that's mine) but filmed from the back of a tandem. I want that cycling motion without the difficulties of having to concentrate on where I'm going. When I was little I was forcibly coerced onto the back of a tandem and spent hours daydreaming along, I just want to recreate that!
thats a beautiful film and i'll probably watch it again, even though it made me sad. why is the view count on zero?

good ideas everyone, thank you! I will go investigate them all. I do remember dt and hops used to have one shacked up outside their place but not sure if it was rideable of if it's still about.
thankyou coppiThat, it's on zero because I only just uploaded it, and also self-promotion is not one of my strong points. If you follow the link to youTube you will find the accompanying text, if it interests you. The film was made for an exhibition called Cities which has now finished in Glasgow, though you may be able to catch it in Beijing soon!

if it helps and there is no tandem available, feel free to use the headcam I have.
Its a POV1 so pretty nice.

Stelle, that was Ted's tandem, I'm pretty sure its rideable.
Wes has a Surly Big Dummy which takes passengers on the back. Way more fun than a back of a tandem :)

I have a Tandem.. i do.
it's a 1940's Holdworth. it needs a few hours TLC & I need to steal it's from wheel back from another bike. & the brakes aren't all that... - probably some new pads will do it. PM if you fancy...

• #18

just sit in the basket on a Butcher's bike, would be fun!
how about hiring a Rickshaw? Do it in style!
Or do as others do hire him, he rides you everywhere, and then run off without paying- its ok, he can't catch you as he's out of "puff" .......
-
• #20
you can hire a Bakfiets actually, not sure where from.
-
• #21
sociables make you look way cooler.
-
• #22
fruitbat has a tandem.
maybe if you asked nicely... -
• #23
thank you again to everyone and your suggestions - realised from the cargo bike/rickshaw ideas that it's definitely a tandem that it needs to be, for the height and motion mainly. But I have some options thanks to you all!
And thank you too to the people who sent me lovely messages about the film...just wanted to give you a taste of what this tandem film will be....

Just seen this thread... I have a purple Bob Jacko tandem that you could borrow. The back wheel is off for a puncture at the moment but otherwise it's in full working.
Given that I'm a newbie on here and don't know you, I'd need some kind of security that you won't bugger off with it, mind :-)
PM me if you want more details.

can't PM you for some reason, maybe you have PM function disabled?
Thank you so much for the offer, but I'm all sorted now, thanks to the lovely El Diablo. We even have aerobars! absolutely batty, I can't get over how funny it is, but we have brought a smile to the face of a few people as we've been out, and at least we can get away quicker than anyone else on the road!
