Yep, it was recommended to me as a quiet route into town by a chap who lives on Canonbie Road (yes, Road rather than Rise) and used to ride fixed about 50 years ago. He's a nice chap but he must have been remembering what the Brockley Footpath was like in some long-disappeared golden age, as I found it was muddy, rocky, overgrown with nettles and brambles and decidedly bike-unfriendly.
