the modus is threaded - not an aheadset...

Cool, thanks - that rules one out!
Can anyone compare any of the others?

I have the Ritchey. Cheap and does the job. I can't really see any of the others will perform any better.

cane creek s2 is good.
FSA orbit is better.
My solution was shimano 105 + M: part converter.
which is excellent. -

Thanks eyebrows, I'll check out the Orbit.

the link you posted for the s2 is a good price

M:part is shit in my experience.
For the same money you may be able to get a much better headset on the ebays (if you can wait?).
And sorry I missed your bday, Ots! Happy bday! I was well hung over by the end of Friday night (you should have stayed with us!).

Unfortunately they charge £6 postage.

The S2 isn't bad, I ran one on my old bike. I just picked up an S8 on the bay for only £7 more though - I think the seller had quite a few. IMO it is well worth paying the extra.

Thanks H & Sammy - i always forget about the 'bay for bits. I'll give it a go.

Done! PM'd
EDIT: I need 1" Threadless.

Otters! Is this for my forks?
I have a headset! -

Really, 1" Threadless? Shit, of course, it was that lovely steel road frame ... doh! What do you have?

It's a stronglight. Angled roller barings.

It's been used for a few hundred miles, but works well and it fits these forks for sure (crown race etc...) Another tenner and it's yours. Plus a top cap and a couple of spacers.
Can anyone recommend or compare these 1” Ahead headsets?
I’m looking to buy one, never having used Ahead, but I’ve no idea if any of these are particularly good. It’s for my beater, so doesn’t have to be particularly high-end - most of the ones I’ve found are in a similar price range. Any advice appreciated.
Ritchey Logic Comp (£16.99)
Cane Creek S2 (£17.40)
BBB Turnaround BHP-01 (£23.44)
M:Part Pro (£24.25)
There’s also this Modus Standard for £9.99 but I’m slightly suspicious of the bargain price.
