Fuck!
I had that very bike, a Klein Mantra Race, carbon monocoque frame, URT, in black the whole shooting match, cost me £3K at the time (around 1998/99?)
Freaking great, super light, great fun.
I must have mentioned it a few million times already, but I loved that bike so much I wrote a song on my second album called (believe it or not) 'Mantra Race'.
Oh the shame, the bloody bike geek shame of it all.
£500 and 3 mins to go, go on, you know you want to.

lots of half truths from the seller maybe, but interesting none-the-less.
it would be nice to know the truth behind the set up of this frame.I am unclear about what you mean coppithat, which parts of its set up seem half-true? A good asking price for a hellarare (tm jamas) frame. Tasty lugs, nice paint... is the existence of the hanger disconcerting? It may have been brazed on later but not necessarily.

Fuck indeed! It's good for keeping cows in a field though. :-)
If you locked that up in Dalston the thieves would need a ladder.

it is about the rear hanger and the braize ons and most likely the drilled rear bridge all reversible but they just annoy me a bit being on such a class frame. maybe the selective purist/occasional vintage snob part of me thinks that the braize ons should not be on a frame that is called a track frame. i know that frames or bicycles of this age in their day would have been dual purpose machines - ride to work, pub, shop and also raced.
what do you think it would cost to have those braize ons removed? its my size. :-) -

Depends on who does it?!
I would just ride it as it is. I missed the brazeons bit (in such a short and to-the-point description I don't know how...) but yes i think the whole one bike for every use clubman idea is probably how this came to be like it is. What's wrong with gears anyhow? I've got a lovely Cyclo coil-spring derailleur that would work nicely on it.
On second thoughts, yes you're right, its well dodgy. Don't buy it.It's my size too.

What do people think of these frames?
What do you think they'd be like for tricks?
Dont buy it. Its being sold by my local overpriced bike shop 'bike pro racing'
Having the cheek to take apart a dirt rough entry level bike to flog on ebay for maximum 'trend' prices is exactly the sort of thing they do.
Plus its a rubbish frameset, has a US BB! and one piece cranks for goodness sakes! I dont think you want a pig iron bike with wartime (american) technology in it.

very heavy, wouldn't pay more than £75 for it. (think it's heavier than even the Charge Plug frame).

Alot of people use the se lager frame for tricks...but i've seen a few snapped tubes. Steamroller, cutter are your best bets for the money. Or wait for the new charge sisscor, 14 bike co, or the mke trick frame/forks.
I'd recommend the cutter if youe planning on taking your bike over some sweet jumps ala "Napoloen Dynamite" :)
