i have realised what it is i don't like about some australians and this goes for all other nationalities (including british ex-pats) and even regional migrants in britain like those from the grim north, wales and scotland.
you are different. you talk funny, stand their with your chest out wearing your homeland on your sleeve, you like to talk about how wonderful it is back/up/down/over there and how shit it is here. if you stopped complaining, whining on about it and just got on with living in the country that you chose to live in instead of seeking refuge with others in themed pubs you might find people accept you for what you are. a person who happens to be from another country.
i get the impression that a lot of migrants relish the confrontation and friction their overt nationalism creates as it reinforces their own sense of identity that they feel they are losing because they are in a different country/region.
at the end of the day i don't give a toss where you are from (especially in london as there is such a mix) just stop going on about it.
