whats so special about a pk ripper ? if i may be so blunt.
that pk ripper is from around '83 - '85.. back then they were rare and were one of the top bikes you could build. Even back then the frame and forks retailed for around £200.. some idea of the dopeness of them. I only knew one kid who had a pk ripper, he bought it from the payout he got when his overinsured Ultra Burner got nicked. They were typically used for serious racing and freestyling too so for one to emerge that's in almost pristine condition from the era is hellarare. Liker dogs says, it's a museum piece now, something for all the nostalgic thirty somethings who drool over stuff like this wanting to have a slice of their childhood.
But unlike a lot of the other bmxes which fetch collector's prices these days, many of which were really average bikes of their day, the pk ripper was always special, and always drooled over.

I had that very bike, a Klein Mantra Race, carbon monocoque frame, URT, in black the whole shooting match, cost me £3K at the time (around 1998/99?)
Freaking great, super light, great fun.
I must have mentioned it a few million times already, but I loved that bike so much I wrote a song on my second album called (believe it or not) 'Mantra Race'.
Oh the shame, the bloody bike geek shame of it all.
