i don't understand what we are supposed to be jealous of out there? the fishing is better and i like fishing but i couldn't abide the heat and the flies. people go on about it being 35°+ but i can't stand it when it's that hot and humid and sitting on a beach bores me shitless, the wine is o.k but over sweet/alcoholic for those who like ribena with alcohol, the beer is generally shit (there are some good small breweries) compared to what's available in europe, their attitude to cyclists is far worse than here in the u.k (we could do a lot better) it's a bit of a cultural desert and any talent usually ends up over here where they get appreciated a bit more.
i can understand it being attractive if you like drinking piss lager outside with burt food and getting sunburnt but after a while doesn't it get a bit boring?
If you don't like the heat and flies, understandable. I don't like the cold and the rain but adaptation is a wonderful thing. I'll probably die when I go back but I fucking LOVE 35 degree days. I rarely spent time on a beach. I did ride past one most weekends.
I don't drink wine but I do miss premix bourbon and coke! and Iced coffee. The beer IS shit but the micros are getting very good. The food is better but I hear it's a lot more expensive these days. We get musicians and shit we just get them later and less often. You might have more access to arts and stuff here but it equally means more shit.. I mean how many "I'm so fat I ate my kids" TV shows are people watching in the UK?!?! Fuck me there's some shite out there. It is a supremely beautiful landscape. Green lanes over here are lovely but nothing beats what we have in terms of landscapes. I also love a bbq.. something else that's almost impossible to do here.
I like aspects of the UK and I like aspects of Australia. Until someone invents a country that takes the best of both.. well.. I move around don't I?
