Can I borrow a Turbo Trainer?

Posted on
  • At work we are hoping to raise Money for Clic Sargent, a Charity that support families whose child has Cancer. A colleague and I want to do a sponsored bike ride. However we don't have enough money to cover the costs of doing an epic ride so I thought we could set ourselves up in the window of the shop and do our epic ride...on a turbo trainer. However a slight problem being that we don't have one.

I have asked a few shops if they would be willing to lend us one for the duration of the challenge (5 days) but all have declined. I am reluctant to buy one as it will never be used again and the money we use to buy it would have to be taken out of the sponsership donations.

So I am asking if any of you guys have one that I could borrow for 5 days?

  • I have a tacx flow. If you can pick it up from New Malden you are more than welcome to it.

  • 5 days on a turbo? You've not used one before have you?
I'd rather pluck out my own eyeballs and sauté my ball sack.

  • I have a Tacx Satori which you can borrow. Pick up from Shepherds Bush

  • Why not just use an exercise bike instead? Either way its gonna be boring as fuck staying in one place for 5 days.

  • i have one you can borrow if picking up from Streatham would be easier for you, its never really been used as i discovered how dull it was!

  • Thanks everyone. I just have to confirm all the plans with my boss and I shall get back to you all. We are waiting to here about whether Reebok fitness will lend us an exercise bike, though I have never felt all that comfortable one.

Im aware of the boredom but I guess that will be part of the challenge.

  • it might be dull but its for an amazing cause - nice one, i hope you raise loads of cash

  • I'd ask around for a couple of big pedestal fans as well, and don't forget a few towels...

    Good luck :)

  • ... and some of this:

  • spinning bikes aren't as bad as excercise bikes (and they're fixed), you'd have to rig up a computer for the distance etc.

oh and you'll need decent drainage for the sweat, and some way of combating the steamy windows
