Trek 1000 double chainring

  • does anyone know if trek bikes take a trek specific chainring? this is what the guy in the shop told me but i don't really believe him. if this is a lie would i need a shimano type a or type b. it's a 53t for a double i'm after.
    cheers

  • check the bcd and then youll know what chainrings you can use

  • it says 130-s. for double shimano you need type a or b and they're not interchangeable apparently. it's not actually my bike so i dont know much about it just trying to find out for a friend. cheers for the reply gogosama.

  • Never heard of a Trek specific chainring, you should be able to fit any old chainring with a 130bcd, I think an A type chainring goes with a 42 inner and a B type goes with a 39 inner but it shouldn't make that much difference according to Sheldon

Edit, prob find a better shop if that's the advice they're doling out.
