I can't believe you have nowhere to go.

I ride down from Swindon to Salisbury because there's excellent riding around there. You've got the whole of the New Forest practically on your doorstep, an excellent run up the river to Amesbury and some lovely lanes heading out towards Yeovil.

I am not to good at remembering roads and what not, that lead to anywhere at all. And surely around this time anywhere along any river is 5" under water.

Possibly, just fit a shorter crank and you should stay high and dry.

As for remembering roads, I used the simple trick of cutting page out of a road atlas and keeping it in a sandwich bag. Bit of an old audax trick but useful for trying out new roads.

I tie a peace of string to my front door then go out. If I ever get lost I just follow the string back home!
