Had you stopped in the first place would he have got so aggro?
If you hit my car or bike I would expect you to stop and sort the problem/damage out, if you rode or drove off I would be pissed off and would do my best to stop you. Is that really so wrong.
If you had the decency to stop I would probably tell you not to worry and that shit happens.
I was wheeling my bike through cars at some lights and my rucksack got caught on his mirror, pulling it around a bit. I then stopped cause we were at the red (he was first in the queue). I apologised through his open window and he started shouting abuse back. When the lights changed I decided not to hang around and he decided to give chase.
There wasn't any damage caused and he was in a better position to rearrange his mirror actually looking into it. Any time when there has been a chance of me causing damage to someones car it's usually involved the car stopping me when I went into the back or side of it, so the driver has usually checked to make sure I'm OK anyway.
