Allen stem bolt stripped out

just put a new stem on bike and with one turn i've stripped the allen bolt on the top,now my headset is loose and i can't tighten it up.
Anyone local to me [walthamstow] able to help me out ?

You tightened it too much that you broke the threads on the star nut, or you loosened it and the star nut dropped down the steerer tube?

the starnut allen head has rounded out so the allen key doesnt fit anymore

maybe get an allen key slightly bigger and whack it in with a hammer, get the bolt out then replace it. thats what i would try but someone else might have a better idea.

drill the head off the allen bolt.

Screw removal drills and bits available from Clerkenwell Screws, on Clerkenwell Road - or solder an old allen key onto the knackered head.
