Hello,
I think the form is to introduce yourself first so here goes:
I live out west of london near the chilterns so have a fair few hills round here so mostly ride my singlespeed mtb and geared road bike - but got given (well for £20) my first fixed wheel bike last november.
Will post some pics when i get round to taking some.
its a really old (70s/80s) - far too big for me - odd sized wheels - Raleigh Carlton in purple
Genius - use it now for commuting 30mile round trip, pub rides - coming down off the chilterns from the pub in the dark has been interesting a few times.
Hopefully catch some of you on some of the london events as they are not far on the train or if anyone is out this way up in the hills would welcome some rides.

Hello,
I've been riding fixed for over a year now, i have a charge plug and love it, despite every other person i seem to see riding one as well (lots of good taste)
I came on the tweed run, which was amazing. And i have enjoyed and benefitted from this forum's collective knowledge, as such I feel indebted to give this great forum a thankyou....thanks

A night ride round some of those hills could be fun. Got ay routes you could lead for the night rides thread? If I'm getting a dynamo hub and bright light I need to get out in the dark to get some value for money.

Riding over from Maidenhead to Bourne End with some mates then onto Marlow on thursday evening just to have a few beers.. Not really a night ride but any welcome.
Will be doing some longer rides once it gets a bit warmer and heading off towards some good pubs over towards watlington.

Hello,
I am from Brazil and I am going to UK to part in a paraolympic track competition in Wales (http://www.walesgp.com/index.html).
Riding a fixed gear was the way I found to make my legs strong and overcome my disability (well... it's complicated to describe, but... I have to work out a lot everyday to get better.... and I getting better everyday).
Thank you all for this forum.

Hey guys,
Been riding fixed for a year or so, built it up myself, but I've joined the forum as I've had an accident and I don't think I can repair this one! I got done friday morning by a guy who just drove out a back street without looking straight into me. I saw it coming, but nothing I could do in time. Thankfully, there's not a scratch on me (the comfort of his bonnet was enough) but there's rather big impact bends/dents in the top and bottom tube.I've had a search on the forum so far and seen that since I've got a steel frame, this can be repaired, but how much is that going to cost?? If it's more than £300 then it's more than the frame cost in the first place!
Any of you guys had experience of this (or welding)? Oh and sorry to put this in the welcome, but I can't start threads yet obviously!

try bob jackson or argos - should be about £100 per tube. Or if you wanna go cheaper, try mario vaz in se13.

Did you get the driver's details? Seems likely if you were on his bonnet.
He should be buying you a new bike. Problem solved. -

Well, I have his registration and have told the police, he basically threatened to knock me out many times yada yada yada. However, in the meantime, I'm without transport and possibly have to take the bus. Plus I really love my bike, so would want to get it repaired anyway. But I won't be saying no to a new bike as well!

Thanks for making it public!
I could have done with that on the day but loads of useful info for what to do now.....Why do some drivers just go mental because you're sub-30 and on a bike?
-
• #1348
Because some drivers are cunts.

i've just joined yesterday and have also been reading this forum for a while - there is such quality info on here (and a good sense of humour). Thanks to lfgss I've been able to find various bike shops I didn't know about, armourtex etc in no time flat.
Live in Hackney N16, building my first SS at the moment.
Drop frame (ol' falcon 531 - early 70's) off tomorrow morning for powder coating, looking to get all bits this week so i can build it this weekend. I'm so sick of my hack - It's gotta go!!
Going to east drinks on wensdy -

The guys at Armourtex told me to leave a message on the forum for a guy named Ted who can remove the braze-ons from the frame before I get it resprayed. Anyone have any idea how I contact this guy?! Thanks very much.
Oh... really... :P
