  • yeah it's basically just a way of film companies securing an audience - if they don't honour that with a decent film then it's a shame for the original fans. But comics are comics and films are films.. I imagine a true geek wouldn't go and see the film version of something like Watchmen as they know the art lies in the novel, going to see it is just curiosity that's probably going to be disappointed.

    I don't see much difference between films based on graphic novels / comics and the thousands of films over the years based on novels. The great films of novels are few and far between and the original books are usually the better experience. Two different pleasures really.
