  • Is it possible to put another ad up on gumtree in the bicycle section, noting it's a stolen bike, using the same pic from velospace?

'IF' it's actually been sold, the buyer may re-check gumtree.

sounds better than nothing simon, do it, today

also try this, although doubt itll help much

  • i'm sorry but leaving a £700+ bike with 2 cheap locks is like giving it to thiefs

  • P.s that Terry guy is the guy who sold my stolen bike, is he a regular?

Im new to this forum but I am an obsessive compulsive who wont give up, Ive been trying to get hold of gumtree to see if they will give info to the police, i dont know if anyone has had experience with that

Again thanks so much for all your help, I will be printing little wallet card pictures of the other stolen unrecovered bikes here so I can keep an eye out when Im on my travels. If i see one I have a spare D-lock which I will put on it and email the forum immediately with the location so we can get police to sort the situation out.

  • if people can confirm that it is the same terry guy who was selling the bike, give him a call 07534289727 and say you want to take a look at that marin corte MTB and also ask if he still has a red pista

  • has no one recorder his phone number? maybe someone still has a tab open in their browser with that page (dont dare close it)????

Lucky i sometimes keep lots of tabs open
    Here it is
    "

( I have the page saved offline if you want it for the police, not sur eif it'd be any good though )

  • 07534289727 edit: Oh good same number^
    terry who's selling the marin

@simon: ''Is he a regular?'' on this forum, do you mean?

  • meet him and bash his brains in.

  • [quote=edscoble;508480]no it just help the person who got their bike stolenquote]

i don't think that you should blame the victim** on this thread**. people should buy a good lock for a good bike, if they don't... well they come here to ask for their bike back and hopefully they get it back. and hopefully they learn another lesson 'to buy a good lock'. if they don't well they end up here again. their problem not yours.

    Sympathy^

i'm sorry but leaving a £700+ bike with 2 cheap locks is like giving it to thiefs

    The cold hard truth^

  • if you tell the police the number and he picks up they can track down his coordinations.

just try to sort it out today, tomorrow may be too late.

They will probably find him stumbling all over the place and dropping things.

  • just had my bike nicked from work! it was kept in the basement of he building that you can only get to with a key fob or through the interior lift. stupidly i didn't lock it to anything, being a locked space i naively thought it'd be ok! how wrong i was!
it was my tired old hack bike,
-a medium sized silver specialized sirrus
-massive dent in the top tube and bent D-lock from the last attempt so pretty recognisable, in fact if you saw it you'd think it was stolen anyway!
    -bright orange riser bars
-crank brothers spd pedals with nice red anodised centre cleat bit

    • pretty dodgy single speed conversion with a fuckin droopy chain!
      -set of Cateye lights

so all in all not worth much but its fuckin annoying as i now haven't got a bike to get around on and couldn't afford another one before let alone now!

so if anyone sees it could you poke the bastard riding it in the eye for me!

also note to all, WHEREVER YOU LEAVE YOUR BIKE, LOCK IT UP!!

  • Does anyone recognizing this number? 07534289727 if you see it again on gumtree pls let us know, this is the guy who sold my stolen bike and he will live to regret it :)

  • Pic of that Willer from Google cache to compare with that on Velospace:

  • Seems he's looking for a job elsewhere on Gumtree...

    have you tried calling him?

turn him in at gumtree and give the number to the police

  • OR...pretend to b interested in the Marin and go from there.

    Bring a hammer.

  • Guys, who wants their own back on a serious bike thief?? I think we all do.

I urge you then to do a google search on this mobile number 07599365284 if you then click (search again and include ommitted results) you will see he has sold every type of bike, 50 in total in the last 2 months, different sizes, different styles, different name on every advert. A bit of a co-incidence maybe? well I checked to see if he had a shop, as soon as he answsered the phone and couldnt tell me what his name was suggested he couldnt! and the fact he couldnt spell his name, or half of the brands of bikes he is selling, also a bike shop with 50 bikes and 50 different staff names sounds a touch odd.

What do you guys reckon? unfortunately he keeps hanging up on me so I have now left him 27 messages and will continue to call many times every day. I have written to gumtree to report it and would ask if anyone else on the forum wants to call him to question why he has so many bikes and names it will mean he spends more time fielding queries than he does stealing your bikes!

I am almost certain he stole a lemond filmore from a forum member here (sorry for your loss, a lovely bike, I hope you get it back or better luck next time)

  • Simon - I can give you a Orange PAYG sim if you come to West beers + £10 free credit.
Give you a chance to chin the guy... FTW

  • Its OK, Its just been reported to police, gumtree and local papers, he appears to have turned his phone off so keep leaving messages to remind him. For some strange reason he is now deleting the old adverts as we speak, good job I copied and pasted them all out!

    Will keep you all updated

Its very therpeutic and it wont get my lovely willier with carbon fibre saddle back but it does help!

    PEACE

  • On another note, the night my geekhouse got stolen, A bunch of clubmates lost their semi nice bikes and the bike shop which sell the nicest bikes in town (Beeline) got broken into and lost several bikes worth over £3K, acc. the police.

So that suggests the bike stealing issue in Oxford has progressed to the next level- stealing to order
    scary times.

  • What a pity that the police can't be bothered to do anything about theft in general (let alone bicycle theft) as it's a 'victimless crime'.

  • Oh, and sympathies to all who have had a bike (or part thereof) stolen, it's a horrible feeling.

  • simonh102 - good job! it sounds like your giving the guy a proper hard time. He'll end up having to change his number (unless of course he's on a contract, in which case you'll end up making his phone unusable). Is it worth posting his number on an ad in gumtree?

either way he's getting back some of his own medicine (however the saying goes)

  • So is there still nobody that has met this guy and caved his skull in yet?
