  • I will be there for any ride that is organized.

+1, when its organized make sure we all know when its down.

  • ahh jesus, only just read this thread, gave me one of those horrible body wobble things. really really sorry to hear of your loss. thoughts are with you and all that knew her!

  • I can't imagine what you must be going through Giles but I hope that everyone's messages here bring some sort of comfort to you.

I'm almost scared to write anything in case it's deemed too shallow. But I honestly believe a ride could provide some sort of lasting legacy: ramming home the message to drivers of their responsibilities to other road users - but also reminding us that while taking to the road each day brings us such immense fun, some people have paid too high a price for that fun. It's at times like these that I honestly feel like giving up riding in London altogether. But then I always know I'll probably carry on.

I live in Camden and go to Ken High Street each day - I'd like to think Eilidh's and my paths crossed at some time.

  • Very sorry to hear about this. I don't often get teary-eyed.

  • Just found this from the other thread.
    Awful awful news.
My thoughts are with you and family Velcro.

  • deepest sympathys so sorry to hear this

  • dear giles, kate, and all of Eilidhs family and friends..
I have only just read this thread and am truly shocked to hear this incredibly sad news.
I also work in Notting Hill and i remember on occasion chatting to this very sweet girl whilst riding along the gate on the way to work. We'd talk about the traffic, the weather and of course deep v rims. We were complete strangers but its those moments of shared experience that makes London the fantastic city that it is.
We all love cycling and this forum is absolutely wonderful in bringing a community together. I believe that when it is appropriate, we would all wish to pay our respects collectively, and in a way that shows how we are thinking of you all during this incredibly difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to you and all Eilidhs family and friends.

    Richard

  • Giles, your strength is truely inspirational. I didn't know Eilidh but my thoughts are with you, her and her family/friends. Stay strong!

  • it only takes a degree of separation

for there to be a brotherhood

    a sisterhood

    a shared understanding

    each and every day

we take our lives in our hands

and we love every minute of it

    until this moment comes

    with the sickening recognition

that one of us is gone

    Bless you Eilidh

I know how much you loved

    riding that bike darlin

I'll be lighting a candle for you tomorrow

    I'll say a little prayer
