  • Hi guys,

I have signed up to this... http://puncheur.co.uk/

One of my old friend's boyfriends is doing it, and they are coming down from London. Apparently he is a bit of a batshit racer... could be fun!

    Anyone else up for it?

  • i'm in. just paid up.

  • jacka nacka nory!

  • btw...

it is a summit finish at ditchling, with pasta then being provided for finishers in ditchling village hall.

dunno about you, but i may well just go home ;-)

  • yeah. it's just a roll down the hill from there... let's go do a few ditchling reps sometime soon. interested to see how fast i can get up there, a good gauge of how fit i am.

  • still in two minds about this one, somebody twist my arm

  • I'm doing this one. Supposed to be less hilly and shorter than your typical sportive, so hopefully you can get a good rhythm going.

  • hmmm, it will be "rolling" i reckon.

still, there's a small chance i might hit the gold classification (67 mi, 4 hours), so gonna hoon it. get in touch james if you wanna meet up/pint after in brighton

  • beacon finish!! that should be interesting...

  • what's the latest i can leave it to decide?

  • well there's 52 places left, says the site, so i reckon you got a little while.

  • i wonder how 'punchy' the steep climbs are. i might do this fixed.

    beacon hill climb. yeah!

  • i've looked at the route and i know there are some buggers around ardingly. short and really steep!

entries close 20 feb - reckon they might just sell out

  • I might give that route a go before hand, see what's it like. is that cheating ;)

  • i was thinking that, too.

    sunday?

  • sounds good

  • ok dickwads,

route recce sunday. 9:30am start. pace: social but no hanging about. minimal stops.

suggest missing out the trawl to ditchling on the way out and going straight up up to lewes and joining up with it there. we all know the route from handcross onwards from lee's rides/forum rides, and that bit's easy and fun - so the first half will be the adventure.

    who's in?

    xam

ps - i'll make the flapjacks

  • Who made you Team Leader fun boy?

Yeah, this sounds good. Confirm later from me.

  • can't join in i'm afraid, got a bloody cold, which is annoying - i was hoping to race this weekend.. hog hill will have to wait for another week or two...

  • Who made you Team Leader fun boy?

Yeah, this sounds good. Confirm later from me.

listen up, sonny jim, this is my discotheque and i'll play sister sledge if i like.

  • listen up, sonny jim, this is my discotheque and i'll play with myself if i like.

    fixed

  • looks good but im lacking in the big bike riding department! riding toy bikes in the sun and drinking beer isnt the best form of training....

  • don't do it fixed.

    pain.

  • was it tough on the trial run?

  • tough course.

when i read on the site that it was fast, with no real hills, i thought it didn't square with the 1800m climbing they also said.

it's nice until you get to the ashdown forest, but there's about 15 miles until turner's hill of ups and downs that are really tiring... you can't get a rhythm going and it's slow.

we didn't do the little loop round ardingly reservoir (VERY hilly) as i was running out of time, but i managed brighton to brighton in 5 hours.

don't know how exactly this compares with the actual route distance (probably a bit further), but i would say that a silver is the best i'll get.
