How long is the ride? Seems a waste carting 32mm over 255k if only the last 5k are dirt, if you get my drift?

Have you got a photo of the surface? Most normal road tyres will probably work but it really depends HOW rough it is and if it's likely to be wet, etc.

The ride is only about 22k, and the last 5km looks like this. The main reason for my concern is my runners legs being turned to jelly over the first 17k, and then slipping and having to re-apply force to the pedals while the cranks are in a bad position.

Its only the last 5k, but at 46,8 gear inches, on a 1:8, with my pathetic legs, repeated slippage might just finish me off.
