This is getting more common.
I've sold a fair amount of stuff to other forum members but IMHO, auction type sales are a bad idea here. State the price you're prepared to take for them, or stick them on e-bay.
As I say, just my opinion. -

Thanks for the link never seen that site before . Didn't know Christophe hasn't changed much since the twenties.
Any idea what size they are ? -

I would state the price if i knew what they were worth.
And I've never sold anything on here or ebay before. Just trying to recoup some money from a bike purchase. You are quite dictatorial.

Dunno what size but they're about 60mm pedal-front to front inside edge, and 52mm across the widest part. I think you'd need fairly narrow shoes but my Sidi will just fit in it and I'm English size 10 or 11ish. They'll bend a bit if need be.

You could have just asked what people thought they were worth.
You could have put them on e-bay, and a larger number of people would have told you what they thought the toeclips were worth.
You chose to auction them here.
As I said, just my opinion. Don't really see how I was being "dictatorial" -

no he isn't. Quote: "IMHO" and "As I say, just my opinion".
Obv you're interestd in getting the most value (be it cash or a trade). So as fruitbat suggests, sign up to ebay (have to learn someday), follow their instructions to sellers, put the clips up with a reserve price (maybe £10) and you might get a high price from someone who likes collecting old bike bits.
But in my opinion, a pair of metal toeclips like that are simply pieces of metal in a useful shape and the value of those, to someone with this opinion will probably only be £10 max.
Good luck with the sale and other bits.

Ok, think I'll take my evil "auction" to the pub after work on Friday instead. I work as a courier so money is hard to come by but not vulgar in my world.

probably a good idea (ebay wud still prob get u a higher price- more people get to view the item). fruitbat was just saying (i think) that on here, auction-type sales tend to flop as there is a perception of more hassle and uncertainty due to not knowing whether your price is better. loads of people (incl me) will just ignore such sales and they end up going on ebay most of the time. however putting a price up will attract people like flies to lights.

I didn't call it either "evil" or "vulgar".
These vintage Christophe http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Christophe-Special-Toe-Clips-LEATHER-BOUND-NOS_W0QQitemZ170299087163QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR?hash=item170299087163&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A1318 are going for about a tenner at the moment.
If you'd offered yours up for about that price, then I may have expressed an interest.
Sorry, didn't mean to piss you off, I just said that, I personally don't like auction style sales here. -

How to make friends eh?
Lighten up Cosmonaut. Money ain't vulgar. Being rude to people that are trying to help is.

I simply meant that, in my perception, more people seem to be going for an auction style sale these days than in the past.
Does that make me a "cunt"? I tend to think not, you seem to disagree.
C'est la vie. -
