  • According to Mike Burrows all cranks are too long and he seems to have sound reasoning behind it (less leg movement, different foot speed), so the use of shorter cranks might be a happy accident for fixed gear.

    And also, pedal strike is not the best thing to happen in a corner so that is reason enough!

    apparently my ideal crank length in 180mm.... obviously too long for fixed gear.
    i however feel like im spinning a kiddie bike if i use 165's and i feel im not getting into the power stroke of my pedalling, if that makes sense.
    i use 170's or 172.5 generally.
