  • Basically. I've decieded to pretty much flip my life on it's head, and I need to get rid of this bike and get me some money.
It's a really special build, completely unique, and it's a really reluctant sale, but it has to go :( :( :(
It's a Gitane race frame with columbus tubing, and Tange chrome forks. I think It's 58cm. Will suit anyone from 5'9"ish upto 6'3" at the extremes. I find it absolutely perfect and I'm 6'1".
The rear wheel is a front Hope XC hub, with a custom made axle from Edd Potts and a special sprocket which bolts onto the disc mount.
It has brand new, uncut 2.5" riser bars (I forget the make, from CRC for £25) with Soyo track grips and also a set of unused ITM drop bars with white tape. Each set of handlebars has it's own quill stem, so it takes 2 seconds to swap them over.
The rims are velocity DeepV rims in white with non-machined sidewalls (£40 each) and the front hub is a sealed planetX jobby with allen key bolts. The front wheel is built radial, and the rear wheel is 3leading, 3 trailing, 3cross snowflake. Looks amazing and is just as strong as any other build!
Brand new continental tyres, brand new KMC K410 chain in white.
virtually brand new WeThePeople Royal BMX cranks and an Odyssey European BMX bottom bracket (£145 new) and a brand new profile imperial sprocket (£30 i think new)
    DMR V8 pedals
Brand new Charge Spoon saddle in white.
Brand bew (not yet fitted) Acor needle bearing 1" headset.(£30 new)
Really Don't want to sell it, and I'm really losing a hell of a lot of money by letting it go, but I don't have a choice.
It has only been built up for about a week and a half, and I've only used it for riding into town literally a couple of times.
This is the gayest thing ever :(
I'm open to offers on it, I really dont know what to ask. But it really has to sell before I go home to Suffolk in about a week. It's physically too big to post, but delivery can be arranged if you cover the cost of the train to wherever you are from Portsmouth (to give you an idea, it cost £20 return to London from here).

Here is a link with some pictures of the bike http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=5342649&id=791055157

EDIT: BEST OFFER GETS IT :(

  • i dont have facebook and never will. how can i view the pictures ?

  • ballpark figure?

also, dibs frame if you end up splitting.

  • I dont know the going rate, but I'd really like atleast £250. Do you think that sounds reasonable?

  • i think you should definitely get £250. i'd buy it myself if i needed it.

  • might have a friend who's interested, I'll check with him tomorrow

  • that's a very good price i reckon. i'm very tempted but i think due to not being able to live in a bicycle, my rent might be a more beneficial use of my money.

  • Ok, am I asking too little? Make me sensible offers. It's also going to be in the region of £20 if you want it delivered to London.

  • at least £250 is a decent price for a conversion.

  • Where's the front brake?

  • It doesn't have one. I found this ratio (43:16) comfortable brakeless with flat pedals for riding where I am. It's all flat and I can stop quickly enough on it.

  • flat pedal? you mean you ride without strap???

  • Mental.

    Is the fork drilled?

  • It's all flat and I can stop quickly enough on it.

but you can't control the bike properly with no strap thought, either put a front brake on, or put a cage and strap on the pedals before you sell it, as most people who buy a bike tend to ride home on it.

rode home once on a brakeless Bianchi Pista with a gearing of 48/16, the 11 miles back home is fucking scary on plastic pedal.

  • Yep, the for is drilled. It's a tange fork.

I never had ant issues with control.

it wouldnt be hard to change the pedals if the buyer desires.

  • loving that back wheel spoke pattern

  • I never had ant issues with control.

you'd says that now, until you tried it out with strap, lucky you don't live in London mate!

  • Obv. doesn't live near any steep hills.

    Lovely bike BTW :)

  • Like the bike! I'm tempted. Wish I could justify a splurge.... Oooo

  • I can deliver anywhere between waterloo and liverpool street stations midweek next week. Probably Thursday if anyone can beat a current offer. Anyone offer £290 including delivery, it's theres.

  • lovely colour

    like green velvet

  • That's nice Sam. I've made a friend of mine aware - so if he's interested, I'll PM you.

fair play, that's a damn good price for a bike that is basically new with nice parts to boot.

  • Hi Sam, I'll take it off your hands for £290 + delivery, I've sent you a PM.
