That's why I only buy a card for Mother's Day - none of this 'Father's Day' nonsense...
Big issue for me with Valentine's Day is that I always thought a single red rose was far more romantic than a bunch. Apparently that makes me cheap - as does making your own card.
What worries me more is how so many people get sucked in by all this - spend a fortune, take your loved one out for an expensive meal, buy chocolates, buy roses, buy a card so big it needs to be airlifted to your house and needs a wall removing so you can fit it in the house... Everyone just seems to totally go for it...
