  • ahem peckham is the new beckham

  • where is that runt? ha! tv eh? hmmn.... hey dan, think we qualify for one of the top league teams?

  • The forumenger formerly known as Object = the new Beckham.
    I hate you.

  • I also thought newington would look nice on the tellie...

Are those courts bigger than Downham?

  • Yeah, they are.

I think Downham offers the most versatility for the cameraman, personally.

  • no polo, no talk

    That always cracks me up!

I'm up for this ... i guess i will be around anyway unless its not on a regular day!?

  • I'd say Downham too, may not look so professional but it seems more practical

  • (home of the top team) Newington is bigger and would offer a better pace of game, but the cameraman would have to be on the court.

    I vote Yorgo's bermondsey court.

  • Yeah, they are.

I think Downham offers the most versatility for the cameraman, personally.

being an expert cameraman you'd know this would you?
can the cameraman get behind the goal at downham? fucking norfcentric beardy weirdy.

  • Rollapaluza piece is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7453600.stm make of it what you will, in general all his pieces are very positive about the "wacky" pastimes he covers.

He was a good bloke, had no agenda and was keen to take part....

  • tbh if it's the BBC they'll send some tit, whose just learned to white balance but has no idea about framing and thinks he's haskell wexler.

  • downham, do it, do it

  • i vote mitch for north, downhams too small. newington for south.

  • Haskell Wexler ?? Does he play polo ??

  • being an expert cameraman you'd know this would you?
I said personally, not professionally. You may have seen that in the text you quoted. And, in case you care, I in fact went to film school for a year (Humber College represent), have worked on too many stupid studnet films to want to think about, volunteered with a film collective in Toronto, and had some quasi-professional work (i.e. paid, but beyond poorly) as the 1st AC on an (independent) feature film. Jerk. (none of this is to say I know more than you.)

Anyway, ignoring obstructed shots (from behind fences):

Downham has shots from behind the east goal (albeit above the wall), well above the court (if the cameraman was stupid enough to climb the wall) on the west side, on court (like every other court), and slightly above from the spectator's area.

Newington has on court, just off court to the east, and behind the goals.

P.S., I love Newington and South polo. Even if you guys are beardest.

  • we are the beardest, i am today. I was pulling your motor wind bell end. Still think Newington offers more for the player and the watcher than downham, but i also like downham alot, just not the goals against the wall.

p.s. you can get high shots at newington too, if you climb behind goal.

  • Shit. I meant beardist.

ANYWAY! Both courts are great with really different styles of play 'cause of the size difference. The play is quicker at Newington (and Mitch) so you're right, more exciting to watch perhaps.

maybe if you were a more skillful player and didn't rely on blind good luck shots at goal, you could play at downham

cos you never do those shots... EVERY time off the charge... at least brendan gets the ball in the net

  • only at downham, as the court is so short.

  • Not me

  • Cue Ray

  • cos you never do those shots... EVERY time off the charge... at least brendan gets the ball in the net

max i got your back bro!

  • A week from this Satuday is the V-day tourney, so if we want to do a Saturday it'd have to be teh 21st. Should we see if he can do it then?

    I don't really care where it's at.

  • V-day tournie is on Sunday.
