Do you need nutted brakes or ones with allen recess?
Have a look at these: http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product.asp?pf_id=17974&src=froogle
I believe you should google for "deep drop brakes" which is the technical term. There is a thread on deep drop brakes: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread14453.html

Condor had own brand some long drop calipers for a fiver each or something on their sale table last week. Some Dia Compe aero levers, some Shimano 105 cables and spend £20 on some Swisstop green pads because you're worth it and they are totally 531.

Cheers for the quick responses just went to make a brew!
ehren: how do I find this out? (nutted or allen recess I mean?) and you were spot on with the 'deep drop brakes' suggestion.
doubletap: I work quite close to condor so might pop in tomorrow at lunchtime.

Sheldon has a section on allen vs. nutted:http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_ra-e.html#recessed . Just measure the hole diameter.

the hole diameter is the same on both sides so its the nutted variation I need.
Cheers for the help

Had the same problem on my SS - bought these in the end... apparently they're "long reach Ultegra's" - seem nice enough:

Matt, in some cases you can drill the hole to make it bigger for an allen key fitting. I did this on a bike no probs.

I finally found so very deep drop nutted ones from sjs cycles. Should get them tomorrow, hopefully.
I may need to drill the front, though I dont have a drill :/. Will wait and see before pleading for assistance ;)
Ahoy,
I need some advice for my first build. I have looked (admittedly quickly) around for an answer but none is forthcoming.
Basically I am putting together an SS bike and am nearly road worthy except for the minor fact I dont have any brakes. I am struggling to find any that will fit my frame (54mm front, 62mm back - distance from mounting hole to rim) except:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Tektro_TRP_T925_Brakes/5360040373/
which are a little out of my budget. Anyone got any good tips for a decent, good value for money, set of breaks that will fit onto my frame?
Cheers,
Matt.
edit: My budget for brakes, levers and cables would be around £80-100 all in
